Thomas & Guys Academy was established in 1981. In 1981, it started as a renowned hair salon in Malaysia, where its stylists were exclusively appointed as hairstylists for news anchors and guests on Malaysia’s national TV channels, TV1 & TV2. During the 1990s and 2000s, the academy participated in various hairstyling competitions, winning numerous awards and gaining widespread recognition for its reputation and quality within the industry. Over the years, Thomas & Guys has developed professional hair academy courses that combine technical excellence with creative artistry, preparing students to excel in the beauty and hairstyling field.
Currently, there are two academies in Malaysia. The main academy is located within a building in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, at Plaza Sungei Wang, covering an area of approximately 2,000 square feet. The branch academy is situated in Johor Bahru’s city center, inside Zenith Lifestyle Mall. The 8-Month Full Course is a comprehensive hairdressing programme designed to build a strong foundation in professional hairdressing and advanced techniques. Students learn essential salon skills such as shampooing and conditioning, haircutting, blow drying, styling, hair and scalp therapy, perming, colouring and rebonding, before progressing to advanced hair colouring, advanced rebonding, advanced women's and men's haircutting, and Korean and Japanese perm techniques.

Learn Hairdressing While Gaining Real Salon Experience
The Work & Study Programme (18+1) provides an immersive pathway into professional hairdressing, combining structured training with practical salon experience. Students develop essential technical knowledge and progressively advance their hairdressing skills while gaining hands-on experience and understanding the day-to-day operations of a professional hair salon.
Programme Structure
The Work & Study Programme follows an 18+1 structure, consisting of an initial foundation training period followed by practical learning in a salon environment.
The programme covers the same broad technical syllabus as the full course, with the addition of Client Consultation & Communication. This provides students with exposure not only to technical hairdressing skills but also to the communication skills required when working with salon clients.

Staying in the KL area? Not to worry! We are located in Bukit Bintang, just a stone's throw away from KLCC. Visit our Thomas & Guys outlet at Sungei Wang Plaza, in Bukit Bintang. We’re open from 10am till 8pm, providing highly professional hair salon and hairdressing services. Book an appointment now!
Thomas & Guys can also be found at JB City Square, right in the heart of Johor Bahru. Our JB City Square outlet is temporarily closed for renovation as we work on improving the salon for a better experience.
